Swirled shirred shade with ruffles

The swirled shirred look is very popular among the world's top interior designers. The gentle bell shape and ruffled finish makes the result a truly distinctive lamp shade.

Space-pleated shade

In this example, the pleats are highlighted by using a different color silk. The box ruffle finish adds a bit of frivolity.

Roll-pleated parchment style shade

These shades are fabricated with a proprietary treatment using oils, tints and other ingredients. The result is an uncommonly warm illumination. The pictured shade has rolled pleats and is scored to highlight the shape. All Blanche Field shades are custom designed to fit the lamp base.

Restaurant and
Hotel Fixtures

Leading restaurant and hotel designers rely on Blanche Field to fabricate unique light fixtures out of papers, fabrics, parchments or laminates. The pictured fixture, nearly four feet long, is a cluster of parchment-style shades with a diffuser. One of fourteen, it was crafted for a new Las Vegas restaurant.

Oval top, flat front, scalloped sided shade

This example illustrates the effect of combining stretched silk with pleats on the same shade. Combination shades such as these are elegant and most usual. The pictured shade has an intricate herringbone finish.

Oval scallop shade in silk shantung

Our inventory of silks run from ultra-fine pongees to shantungs, which have a textured look due to "slubs", tiny clots of silk that run throughout the fabric. The pictured shade uses trims that reflect the lamp base, in this case a colorful Murano glass vase. The resulting unit has a brightness that must be seen to be fully appreciated.

Shade for an ornate antique standing lamp

Using the customer's gilded frame, our staff designed and built a shade utilizing brocaded silk. This exemplifies our ability to create truly custom shades for any kind of lamp.

parchment-style shade

The parchment style shades are available in many colors, and this example has been subtlely antiqued to give it an aged look. Trims and the black tape between panels have been chosen to enhance the integration of the lamp and shade.

Flat pleated shade with
single-pinch rouching

The knife sharp flat pleats give a crisp, clean look to fine silk shades. We can vary the size and tapering of the pleats to suit your client. Custom finishes like rouching add a cheerful aspect and can be of one fabric or backed with a different silk to provide a very nice color highlight.

Flat oblong scallop shade

Blanche Field is unusual in that we have our own steel frame making shop. We can therefore make shades in an infinite variety of shapes and sizes. This shade uses a silk brought to us by the customer (COM). The trims are from our collection.

Box pleated shade,
smocked top and bottom

The smocking on Blanche Field shades is tight and even, and this shade shows stitch points in silk thread of a different color. The light emitted by a smocked shade is truly unique.
